Andrea                     my Journal...
About me...Hello, I'm Andrea!  I'm a junior at ASU, pursuing a degree in English lit with a minor in history.  What do I hope to do with that? Get a PhD, of course!  I also work full time at FedEx and live in an apartment that's more of a little zoo, actually.  I have a small parrot, a floppy eared rabbit, a guinea pig, a cat, some fish, and seven gerbils (possibly more are on the way... I guess I'll find out in about a month or so!)  I really, really, want a dog, but I don't think I have the time or room for any more pets.  I'm the oldest of four kids, which is why I think I feel the need to nurture and take care of everything.  I hope to be done with school in two years, but I'm trying to focus on maintaining good grades, so it might take longer.
Where I go to college: Arizona State University

My Major: English lit with a minor in History
My year in college: junior...Well, second year junior.  I'm on the five year plan because I work full time!
My dreams for my future: I hope to get an Ma, and then PhD with a focus in Asian-American lit or children's lit, start a non-profit food bank for animals, finish my children's book, teach, and live on a ranch...I'd also like to someday improve on my cooking skills, which are non-existent!
How I plan on getting there: With little sleep! Seriously, through patience, determination, and the belief that I will get there, no exceptions.
My favorite things to do: I enjoy spending time with my menagerie of animals.  I also love to read, and travel when I can.  Which isn't much, being a college student and all. Honestly, I really enjoy going to class...I love being challenged and stimulated by my professors.  Working has really helped me appreciate my education.
My favorite books: Wow! Tough choice!  Anything by Amy Tan, Coming of Age in Mississippi (talk about inspirational people), any of the Harry Potter books are pretty good, Red China Blues, and A Mid-Summer Night's Dream (which I just got done with for my Shakespeare class)
My favorite poet: Anne Bradstreet, Langston Hughes, and Edgar Allen Poe.  Walt Whitman is also great.
My favorite movie: Annie is my all time favorite, but I also like Grease, the Lady and the Tramp, and anything written by Mel Brooks
My favorite thing about me: I have a big heart, especially when it comes to animals (I can't even watch hunting on TV, it makes me cry!) and I'm very loyal.  I also have a drive to constantly prove and improve myself in all that I do.
The worst thing about me: I'm driven, but also stubborn.  I tend to be a perfectionist, and have a hard time asking and accepting help from others.  I also tend to be late for everything!
Advice for girls: Believe in yourself, and don't listen when others bring you down (I know it sounds cheesy, but it's true).  You alone have the capability to make all dreams a reality, even when it seems impossible.
